La Federación Luterana Mundial (FLM) es una comunión mundial de iglesias cristianas de tradición luterana. Fundada en 1947, la FLM cuenta en la actualidad con 140 iglesias miembro en 78 países, que representan 68 millones de cristianos y cristianas de todo el mundo.

El Consejo Latinoamericano de Iglesias es una organización de iglesias y movimientos cristianos fundada en Huampaní, Lima, en noviembre de 1982, creada para promover la unidad entre los cristianos y cristianas del continente. La idea del CLAI, como se lo conoce comunmente, echó raíces cuatro años antes , en la gran reunión de iglesias evangélicas celebrada en Oaxtepec, México, en septiembre de 1978.

It is headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. According to its web-site, LWR promotes, through its partners in 35 countries, sustainable development by helping communities increase the quality of life, engage in fair trade, and be better equipped to handle emergencies. This expanded mission originated from its beginnings as a non-governmental organization founded in 1945 for helping many European Lutherans who suffered devastation during World War II.
